Air Park Home (OR81)

An "Airpark" is typically a housing development with an associated General Aviation runway for the use of homeowners. In some cases the developments can be large with 30-100 homes. In my case Olinger Airpark, also known to the FAA as OR81 (Oscar-Romeo-Eight-One), is 15 homes arranged along a 2000' grass runway just north of Hillsboro Oregon. We are close enough to the Hillsboro airport (HIO-Hotel India Oscar), that we must contact the Hillsboro tower for permission to take off and land from our backyard runway.

This is a photo of me in the "shop" before we purchased the home. Here you can see how the shop was "staged" for a quick sale. There was an airplane hangar attached too... but it was full of "stuff" so the owners airplane had to park outside.

Now I've Done it

After two years of working with Architects, Structural Engineers, and Six months waiting for Plans approval.. it seems we may be "near" the plans approval point. We need to schedule a meeting with the Washington County Structural Engineer, our Structural Engineer, and Architect for a pre-construction meeting.

I decided to dig two post holes and place 2 4x4's that were originally part of a Wing construction jig for the former home owner's RV-4 kit airplane wing. These will now be the posts for the jobsite permit/plans for the remodel.

I've done it now... put up a sign to suggest that construction will actually "begin" at some point.
We shall see.
